Wii Fit...sold out?

May 15th 2008 19:55
I talked bout the Wii Fit in my last post, and decided to pick one up for my family. I was planning on just getting one for now to see if we use it and figured pre-ordering would be the way to go with one week before it ships.

Apparently, this was a bad idea. For those who don't know, the Fit is sold out everywhere. I'm going to try and hit a Walmart the day of the launch and see if I can maybe get one, but chances aren't looking so hot.

What is up with Nintendo right now? Do they not wish to pull in money? They have had supply problems the whole life of this console! Its 1.5 yrs old now...can you find a Wii easily on shelves? In some areas, I'm sure you may be able. I live in a suburb of Philadelphia, and many of my friends are scattered across the US, and they have troubles finding the console easily. Its somewhat complimentary that its still selling well, but also troubling that they can't keep production up to par seemingly ever.

Hitting EB Games and Best Buy, both indicate sold out. EB/Gamestop only sells in bundles you can preorder like once a month. Walmart (as of this posting) only sells it in a bundle and comments its in extremely short supply. Various reports indicate the most anticipated are the same way, and those are much much easier to get out in bulk! (Usually during the first week its been unpossible, unless you pre-ordered, to find stuff like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, etc)

If Wii Fit is now going through the same thing, its just going to make me sad. Yes, I can wait, thats fine. I've got plenty of other stuff out there I can play/do. What's not so great is what happens because people go to the store with this cash on hand and can't find it. Generally they get sold on the competition instead. I can't tell you how many friends have bought a 360 and gotten into some really great games because the Wii just wasn't around at all.

Nintendo, do you really not want our money? I'm trying to buy into your niche games, but you're really not making it easy! Even when I do get to buy them, you make me wish you'd done more to make me play them more often. (but thats a rant for another time ) This is genuinely one game/program I looked forward to on the Wii as unique...and you're just making it really hard to get into. *sigh*
